They write a law to catch one man. For thirty days, pray to nobody but the king. Everybody knows Daniel prays three times a day with the window open, facing home, and everybody knows he will not stop. That is the trap.
So he goes upstairs, opens the window, and gets down on his knees, same as always. They throw him in a pit full of lions and seal a stone across the mouth of it.
The king cannot eat and cannot sleep. He is at the pit before the sun, calling down. And a voice comes back up out of the ground.
My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me; because as before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”

Three times a day
Window open, facing home
They made a law to catch one man
And that was all it took
Three times a day
Three times a day
Three times a day
Three times a day
Thirty days (their new law!)
Pray to nobody but the king
They knew him (we all knew him!)
Knew he wouldn't stop
Same time every day
Same time every day
So he went upstairs (same as always!)
And he opened the window (same as always!)
And he got down on his knees
Shut the lions' mouths!
All night long and not a scratch on him
Shut the lions' mouths!
Roll away the stone, he's still standing
He was never down there on his own
Stone across the mouth of it (sealed it!)
King couldn't eat his dinner (couldn't sleep!)
No music in the palace
Pacing till the sun
Running to the pit
Running to the pit
And he called down (are you there!)
Is your God a living God (is he there!)
And a voice came up out of the ground
Shut the lions' mouths!
All night long and not a scratch on him
Shut the lions' mouths!
Roll away the stone, he's still standing
He was never down there on his own
O king, live forever
My God sent his angel
Shut the lions' mouths
Not a scratch on me
I could hear them breathing in the dark
Closer than my own two hands
Something stood between us the whole night
And I slept
Not a scratch... not a scratch...
Not a scratch... not a scratch...
Shut the lions' mouths!
All night long and not a scratch on him
Shut the lions' mouths!
Roll away the stone, he's still standing
(Never on his own! Never on his own!)
Roll away the stone
He's still standing
Shut the lions' mouths
