The story

Jericho is shut up tight. Nobody in, nobody out. And the plan they are given makes no sense as a plan: walk round the city once a day for six days and do not say a word. On the seventh day, walk round seven times, blow the horns, and shout.

No ladders. No battering ram. No siege. Six days of walking in silence looking daft, then one long note and a shout, and the walls go over.

Inside the city there is a woman with a red cord in her window. She hid the spies. When everything else comes down, her house is the one left standing.

The verse

So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.
