The story

Still dark, still cold. Women walking back up the road to the grave with spices in their hands, asking each other who is going to move the stone, because none of them can.

They come round the corner and it is already moved. The grave clothes are lying there folded, not torn. A man asks why she is crying and she thinks he is the gardener. Then he says her name.

She runs back down the road with the sun coming up to tell men who do not believe her. She saw him first. That is in the text and we kept it.

The verse

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him, “Rabboni!” which is to say, “Teacher!”
